Practical Biophotonics Workshop 2009
Learn cutting-edge imaging
techniques

This year the annual workshop has been split in to two. The first three days
will be the introductory workshop. For those that attend or have already
attended our introductory workshop, there is an optional advanced workshop
specializing in a single topic. There is limited space in the Advanced workshop
so please register early.
3-Day Introductory workshop: July 20-22
Practical Biophotonics: An Introduction to
Advanced
Fluorescence Microscopy Techniques
This 3-day course will introduce the practical aspects of modern
fluorescence microscopy. Registrants are also welcome to attend the lectures
on day 4 - the advanced topics course on FLIM.
Participants will be given access to, and tuition on, the latest
in confocal and widefield systems, including an introduction to FRET,
deconvolution, FRAP, and spectral analysis.
This introductory course will comprise the basis for subsequent
in-depth Practical Biophotonics workshops on advanced topics such as
fluorescence fluctuation analysis, high-content screening, and advanced FRET
techniques.
1-Day
Advanced Workshop: July 23
 Practical Biophotonics: Fluorescence lifetime
imaging for biologists
This 1-day course has limited space and will focus on the uses of
fluorescence lifetime imaging in modern Biophotonics.
Registrants for the advanced topic day will be given access and tuition on a
range of systems configured to quantify fluorescence lifetime. The pro's and
con's of each technique will be discussed. Systems available will include
fluorimeters, TCSPC MP-confocal, LIFA widefield frequency domain and
FLIM-capable confocal high content screening systems.
1-Day
Vendor's Forum: July 23 10am-2pm. No registration required.
A number of expert systems have been invited to the
workshop lab demonstrations and will be accessible to all registrants and
non-registrant on Thursday Jul 23rd. It will provide the opportunity to speak to
the manufacturers about the latest developments in Biophotonics and see the data
gathered during the workshop. Biochemistry Teaching Lab: HSC. |
